Where they started?

Originally, they externally funded by DOST, they where givin 800 thousand plus to be able to develop Poultry Monitoring System for Global Mindanaw Agriventures in Gingoog City. They wanted to develop this kind of technology to address the problem.

What they did first?

  1. Onsite visit- They visited different farms located in Gingoog City and able to immerse in the situation.

  2. Interview- They conducted an interview to different personnel in the poultry industry.

  3. Plan- they where planning on how they execute their solution on that specific problem.

Eng. Bergado with her partner develop a "prototype". A prototype is something that is done using a PowerPoint, Canva, Pikma or any tool in order for you to show in your client before you develop real thing. With this prototype, their team conducted again an interview with their client virtually to validate. They gathered feedbacks, comments and everything that can help them with their project.

They also conducted a training and turn-over the developed prototype which is the mobile application and the web application to be use by the farm managers and for the growers in their daily monitoring for their operation.

After the end of their project, Eng. Bergado become a trainee and become a part of a 15 week training of the Filipinnovation Entrepreneurship Corps 3; Train the Trainers Program. She studied there to gathered or to get more additional knowledge about business industry on how to become a successful entrepreneur, how to become an innovator, and on how to make a startup of a business. She conducted also lots of interview while on the training.

Eng. Bergado shares some best practices in costumer discovery process that can be apply to other aspiring entrepeneur, 1.) Connect with your industry mentor. Referral matters, 2.) Interview with the goal to unlearn, listen, and gather new insights, 3.) Communicate with your team, ask help/advice, 4.) Revise your BMC, BTT, VPC how you've evolved thru your interviews. Including hypothesis and questions, and 5.) Acceptance.

She also shares common pitfalls to avoid that some aspiring entrepreneur fails to their goal, 1.) Over confidence, 2.) Approximately 90% of their startups fail, 3.) Not building the right thing, 4.) Unconscious fear, and 5.) Waiting for the right time.

Why validate first?

  1. Validating your product/solution can enable you to reasonably predict whether people will buy it, as well as whether your business will be profitable.

  2. Expand your understanding of the various facets of real, felt problems so that you can narrow your focus and tailor your solution.

To become an entrepreneur, you have to exert effort, perseverance, and hardwork for that goal you desire. You also encounter failure and disappointment that turns you to become motivated as part of your journey to become a successful entrepreneur in the business industry.
